About
Welcome to the world of Tonkichi, a culinary gem located in the heart of Singapore at 391 Orchard Rd, #04-24 / 24A. Renowned for its authentic Japanese tonkatsu, Tonkichi has successfully carved a niche for itself over the years, garnering rave reviews from locals and tourists alike.
As you step into Tonkichi, you’re greeted by a warm ambiance and friendly staff ready to guide you through their exquisite menu. The attention to detail begins with the first bite—where crispy textures meet juicy, tender meat. The tonkatsu here is nothing short of remarkable, complemented perfectly by a rich miso sauce, fluffy rice, and the signature refillable cabbage salad that patrons rave about.
Among the highlights is the cracking rosu katsu, a dish Anthony Lam, one of Tonkichi’s loyal customers, claims to be among the best in town. The pairing with the refreshing Sapporo draft beer is not to be missed, providing a perfect balance that enhances the flavors of the dish.
For those wanting to sample a bit of everything, the sharing platter offers a fantastic deal, allowing you to indulge in various meats while enjoying the flexibility of limitless cabbage and rice. Faye Yap sings praises for the matcha milk drink—creamy and smooth, it’s an ideal treat to round off your meal.
Beyond the food, the service at Tonkichi shines as brightly as the dishes themselves. Miss Mon, Miss Leah, and Mr. Kelvin are just a few names mentioned in glowing customer reviews, reflecting a dedication to customer satisfaction that sets this restaurant apart. You feel the warmth in the atmosphere as if you’re dining in a friend’s home.
With its decade-long legacy of quality, Tonkichi is not just a place to eat; it’s a destination. Whether you are a local or a visitor, making a stop here promises an exceptional dining experience, deserving of a place on your culinary bucket list. As Anthony aptly states, “The crowds during meal time is a good indication of how good the business is doing.” It’s a testament to the enduring popularity of this remarkable restaurant, where every meal tells a story of passion, precision, and community.

“ Had a quick dinner. Dropped by Tonkichi around 7pm. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food were really good. Crispy on outside, juicy and tender inside. Goes well with the miso sauce, rice and cabbage. Will be back! Thank you ”
“ One of the earliest pork katsu shop in Singapore. Here for more than a decade. Always taste good. Always a lot of people. Fast prompt and helpful services with frequent cabbage refill. ”
“ The place is not too big, and it's always full. Luckily we don't need to wait too long for our table. The food is delicious. Love their chicken katsu, rosu katsu salmon teriyaki, and agedashi tofu. The ocha is free refill. One of our fave when visiting Singapore. Their service is quite good, they try to catch all the request although it was full house. The price is a little high but worth it. ”
“ Quality is still good and its renovation seems to be new ! It’s been a long time since I last came ! Delicious and crispy as ever ! Love the jelly fish appetiser ”
“ Whenever visiting SG, this is one of my fav my lunch/dinner places. The shaved cabbage is so fresh that you won't mind asking for more. Btw the cabbage is refillable. The best is the sesame dressing and the super fragrant roasted sesame seeds for you to grind on your own. I like the adegashi tofu. The sauce is not too salty. The same taste like the ones i ate in Japan. I usually order the soft and non fat katsu: Hire katsu set. The portion is quite large. If you come in 3 persons, ordee 2 sets will be enough. ”
“ The food here is awesome! I like that there’s sharing options available, so you get to try a variety of meat. The price for the sharing platter is also quite reasonable in my opinion. I mean, you can top up the cabbage salad and rice as much as you want, so I think it’s quite worth since you’ll definitely be full from this meal. The matcha milk drink is really smooth and creamy! Would recommend! ”
